CIVIL SOCIETY

WORKING GROUP on FINANCING MECHANISMS

Message from the coordinator (Djilali Benamrane, 03 October 2004 )

On behalf of everybody I would like to thank Dr Prof. Rainer for his wise and contructive position to remove his List. We all are waitting for his involvement in the future as in the past. So we can now progess together as efficiently as possible because of we have a lot to do, huge challenge to meet if we want to be present and active in Tunis. Next week, the web site http://www.wsis-finance.org will be operating with substantive documents if possible in 3 languages ( English, French, Spanish ). Substantive documents will feed our List discussion. Documents will be official ones published by WSIS, NGOs CS Associations, Universities, UNDP, WB, UIT, Partners in development etc... ; documents from List members ; documents like press release and other information to be promote (Suggestions are waitted). Many thangs and regards to our friend fot his achievement regarding the need for UNDP to take into consideration the CS view concerning WSIS Finance item. We do need to be involved in the debate starting on the 4th October and will make proposal for the next version, expected by the end of November. We shall use this action to be present in the UN ICT TF meeting in Berlin, Nov. 19-10, the global forum on "Enabling Environment for Digital Development". I am sure that the German CS which already has scheduled a workshop on 18 November will be able to report our progress to all meetings organized in Berlin. Perhaps some of our colleagues members of the list will be able to attend theses meetings. Here we have a real challenge how to use CS everywhere, anytime with an effective mandate and we know how the German CS is powerfull. There are only first proposals, we are interested by comments and new proposals.
Once more many thanks to Dr Prof Rainer for his decision and proposals.
All the best Djilali
